About

Hospitality is in our DNA

ERDI is a collection of premium hotels and businesses that push the boundaries on design, function and guest experiences.

Founded by Eva & Les Erdi in the mid 1980s, ERDI is a collection of privately-owned premium hotels and businesses, that offer a unique hospitality experience. Each of our hotels take inspiration from the local area and push the boundaries on design, function, and guest experiences. Our diversification allows ERDI to provide every guest, of every taste and need, with a memorable experience.

Our assets, first-class talent, state-of-the-art technology, and discipline is what sets our hotels and businesses apart from competitors. We aim to surpass the needs of customers and maximize value for community benefit. There is much to give us confidence, but inherent in our DNA is a requirement to keep resetting the bar and striving for even bigger goals.

ERDI is passionate about enriching the lives of those around us and giving back to the community.

Consistent with the intention of the founders, Erdi Foundation was established in 2014 with a mission to strengthen community life and to address the disadvantages in Australia and Israel through funding charitable organisations that share the same values as our mission.

Our History

ERDI was established more than 40 years ago by Hungarian immigrants Eva & Les Erdi, who based themselves in Melbourne in the 1950s and made a significant contribution to the cities of Melbourne and Geelong as entrepreneurs, constructing apartment hotel and student accommodation in the inner city.

Much of their work in these areas has helped bring life to what had been deserted areas in the city.

At 65 years old, when most people would be thinking of retiring, Dr Les Erdi started to build a hotel empire.

He was awarded the medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours in 2008 for service to the community through philanthropic contributions to educational, charitable and Jewish organizations. In all of this, he has given generously without any thought of public acclamation.

Today, Eva & Les’s philanthropic vision is continued through the Erdi Foundation.
